The Evening Chapter of the Mesquite Club announces that the 34th Annual Holiday Craft Auction will be
held on Friday, November 16, 2018, at 5:30 p.m. at the Mesquite Clubhouse, 702 E. St. Louis Avenue, Las
Vegas, NV.
The cost to attend the buffet dinner, basket raffle, grand-prize raffle, and live auction of holiday crafts,
and other packages of dining and entertaining items is $20 at the door.
The net proceeds from the event will support Foster Kinship and the Evening Mesquite Scholarship
Fund.
When children cannot live with their parents, they should live with relatives. Foster Kinship was
established to help 33,000 children in Nevada who are living with relative caregivers, also known as
kinship care. Foster Kinship was founded to provide resources for kinship caregivers to provide safe,
permanent, and nurturing homes for children. The funds raised by the Mesquite Club will be used by
the agency for emergency resources to Kinship caregivers such as new car seats, cribs or beds, items
required for foster licensing like a fire extinguisher, legal costs, document-request costs, transportation
costs, and moving assistance. The agency also provided ongoing case management and emotional
support to the caregivers and children.
The Evening Mesquite Club Scholarship Program awards scholarships to female Clark County High School
seniors to continue their education as full-time students at a college or university in Nevada. The
recipients must demonstrate financial need and involvement in community service. The Program is
administered on our behalf by The Nevada Public Education Foundation.
Pat Garcia and Jane Reid, co-chairs of the 2018 Holiday Craft Auction, announced the theme for this
year’s Holiday Craft Auction, “Families Make the Holidays.” Their committees have been working hard
to solicit donations for the auction, grand-prize raffle, and basket raffle, and they have plans to
transform the Clubhouse for the event into a place that celebrates all kinds of families at the holidays.
Anyone who wants to make a donation to the auction or baskets may contact Reid at 702-463-7942.
Monetary contributions to the Mesquite Club to support the two worthwhile charities are also
welcomed, and checks may be sent made out to the Mesquite Club, Inc. with a memo on the check to
the Holiday Craft Auction. The donation should be mailed to: Mesquite Club; P.O. Box 95662, Las
Vegas, NV 89193.
